Today we investigated density in class. Our density tower included; corn syrup, vegetable oil, and blue water (food coloring). We noticed that no matter what order we use to pour the ingredients in the cup, it always arranged itself according to density. Our second investigation included coke and diet coke. The students were asked to hypothesize which was of higher density. Using a tub of water we tested our different hypothesises. Later, we read the nutritional label and looked at the sugar content to try and explain the difference. Last, we tested grapefruits. One had the peal on, the other was bare.... Again using out scientific method, we hypothesized what will happen, and later came up with a conclusion to explain our observations.Thursday, January 13, 2011
