Historical Figure

In the next couple of weeks, your child will be researching a person that influenced the American Government. The IIM method (Independent Investigation Method) is a teaching model that will guide us through the research process. Last week, each student picked a topic; or historical figure (Step 1). Today we set our research goals; or came up with our guiding questions (Step 2).
Here are some of the questions we came up with following our discussion:

  • Who was your historical figure?
  • What did your historical figure do? What was his/her ACTION?
  • What was his/her inspiration?
  • What was his/her cause?
  • Why did your historical figure act?
  • What was the result of your historical figure's action?
  • How did your historical figure change in time?
  • How did his/her actions affect the world?
  • What was your historical figure's point of view? (perspective)
  • What did other people think of your person?
  • What is our responsibility to keep his/her goal ?
  • How do you feel about your person's contribution to the world? (Reflection)
Now that we have set our research goal (questions) we are ready to find out more about our historical figure - RESEARCH (Step 3) Our product will be wax museum where the students will dress up and deliver a speech in first person December 16.
