Our focus this week was on building our community. One of the assignments was to work collaboratively in small groups and build a newspaper bridge. The students had access to 2 inch thick stack of newspapers, tape and a ruler. They had to plan, and construct a 6 inch tall, 12 inch wide bridge that can hold 4 pounds for 60 seconds. The students worked together, and discovered the importance of collaboration, cooperation and most of all mutual respect. They were also asked to dedicate their bridge to the attitude of their choice, one that they value the most.
